A growing city of about 4,500, Chelsea is located just 15 minutes west of Ann Arbor.  Home to the Purple Rose Theatre, an award-winning Equity stage, and to the Common Grill restaurant, Chelsea is a southeast Michigan destination.

Chelsea features a vibrant downtown, with a mix of shopping, dining, entertainment and local activities.  During the summer months, downtown is the focus during the annual SummerFest, and during the weekly Sounds & Sights events scheduled from June to September.

Opportunities for recreation are endless in the Chelsea area.  Jointly, Chelsea Recreation and Chelsea Community Education offer a broad range of team sports, fitness workshops and other classes throughout the year.  Chelsea is located at the edge of both the Waterloo and Pinckney Recreation areas, so a total of more than 30,000 acres of recreation land is available for the full range of outdoor activities, including camping, hunting, fishing, and hiking.
